City of Norwalk, CT Officially Welcomes KBE Building Corp.

Fanfare ribbon-cutting celebrates $300M firm’s strategic expansion

NORWALK, CT, Sept. 16, 2015 – Though it performs work in 14 states throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, KBE Building Corporation (KBE) is highly selective about when and where it expands its operations. To celebrate KBE’s selection of Norwalk, CT for its third corporate office—and to officially welcome the $300 million firm to town—the City of Norwalk hosted a fanfare ribbon-cutting on Sept. 15 at 200 Connecticut Ave., Ste. 5J.

Attendees included Norwalk Mayor Harry W. Rilling, Congressman Jim Himes, KBE President, CEO, and principal owner Mike Kolakowski, and KBE Vice President of Business Development Allan Kleban.

Legacy of Success in Fairfield County

“Having completed so many projects in Fairfield County over the years, we knew that was where we needed to open our third corporate office,” said Kolakowski. “We looked at spaces in Greenwich and Stamford, but there was no comparison to the warm welcome and support we got from city officials in Norwalk. They went out of their way to find us the ideal space and make us feel like part of the community.”

KBE has completed more than $140 million in construction volume in Fairfield County since 2009. Markets include senior living, K-12 schools, retail, and higher education.

Current Fairfield County projects include

  • Jewish Senior Services building at the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg campus in Bridgeport;
  • mixed-use renovation at 376-380 Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich;
  • new dormitory at the University of Bridgeport;
  • renovation of the Campo Acres Shopping Center in Westport; and
  • preconstruction services for mixed-use complex in Darien for Federal Realty Investment Trust.

KBE also completed the renovation of Stamford’s J.M. Wright Technical High School last fall.
