Naval Air Station Exchange to Begin Renovations
COLUMBIA, Md., December 19, 2016 – KBE Building Corporation, a $300 million construction firm located in Maryland and Connecticut, will soon begin addition and renovation on the NAS Patuxent River Exchange in Patuxent River, Maryland.
KBE is serving as General Contractor on the project, which consists of a 28,400 s/f addition to the existing 56,800 s/f Naval Air Station and renovation to the existing store’s retail, services, and administration areas. The project owner is Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) in Washington, DC and Navy Exchange (NEX).
The expansion will improve this outlet’s undersized retail sales floor and storage area and develop an additional 200 surface parking stalls.
KBE previously completed exchange projects in Annapolis, Maryland, Groton, Connecticut, and Millington, Tennessee, working with either NAVFAC or the federal Defense Commissary Agency.
“For years we were the go-to builder for major grocery store and other retail projects, but we’ve expanded our scope of work to include government projects at the municipal, state, and federal levels,” said KBE’s CEO and principal owner Mike Kolakowski. “I’m proud that our construction projects are benefitting military families across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.”
NAS Patuxent River’s Exchange is open to all active duty military, retired military, and their dependents.
