Firm honored for commissary, technical high school projects in Northeast
FARMINGTON, Conn., Feb. 13, 2015 – KBE Building Corp. has added to its legacy of CT ABC honors, with more awards won during the association’s 2015 Annual Dinner and 2014 Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards held on Jan. 29 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantville, Conn.
CT ABC, the Associated Builders and Contractors Connecticut Chapter, is a membership association for merit shop contractors.
Winning Projects
US Naval Submarine Base Commissary – Groton, CT
- $14.5 million project completed in March 2014
- 57,000 s/f new commissary offering discounted groceries for military families
- Designed by the Jenkins Group
- First place award
Harvard H. Ellis Regional Vocational Technical School – Danielson, CT
- $84 million project completed in September 2014
- 117,300 s/f renovation and 68,000 s/f addition including upgrades to classrooms and trade shops
- Designed by the S/L/A/M Collaborative
- First place award
J.M. Wright Technical High School – Stamford, CT
- $60.5 million project completed in August 2014
- 202,400 s/f renovation and addition of two entrances
- Designed by Northeast Collaborative Architects
- Won both Award of Merit and the People’s Choice Award
KBE has been a member of CT ABC since 1983. The $300 million firm’s past awards have included the 30 Year Award, the EIC Spirit Award, the Merit Cup Award, the Safety Award, and awards of excellence for projects in various categories.
On Jan. 29, KBE also won the 2014 CT ABC “Best of the Best General Contractor” safety award, which honors high-achieving firms that participate in the STEP (Safety Training & Evaluation Process) program.
