FARMINGTON, CT, June 26, 2015 – KBE Building Corp. continues its 2015 award streak with two more wins from the Connecticut Building Congress (CBC). The construction services firm won the Project Team Award for the Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School renovation and the Award of Merit for the Connecticut College Boiler Replacement Project.
Highlights | Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School Renovation Project
- General Contractor for $52.4 million project
- 117,300 s/f renovation and 68,000 s/f addition
- Scope encompassed upgrades to all trade shops, including manufacturing, auto tech, autobody, carpentry, electrical, masonry, and plumbing, and athletic fields; new bus garage, gymnasium, classroom wing, media center, community café; new culinary arts/teaching kitchen and hairdressing studio
- Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative
- Completed in October 2014
Highlights | Connecticut College Boiler Replacement Project
- Construction Manager at Risk for multi-phase, $5 million project
- Scope encompassed asbestos abatement and demolition at the existing central heating plant; removal and replacement of three aging boilers with four new flexible watertube ones; addition of other supporting equipment, including de-aerators, pumps, and chemical treatment systems; minor structural and architectural modifications made to accommodate the renovations
- Completed in October 2014
The Connecticut College Boiler Plant Replacement Project Team, including Team Lead KBE Building Corp., also won the International Partnering Institute’s 2015 Partnered Project of the Year Award – Vertical Building Projects, Sapphire Level. The Harvard H. Ellis project also won the Excellence in Construction award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut (CT ABC).
