10/30/2019 – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Connecticut Chapter has recognized KBE Building Corporation’s Consolidated Department of Public Works Facility (Waterbury, Conn.) project with a Merit Award in its annual Excellence in Construction Awards program.
The KBE project team, owner, and trade contractors were honored at the organization’s annual awards event on October 24, 2019 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, CT.
KBE provided Construction Management at Risk services for the City of Waterbury’s Consolidated Public Works Facility and Bureau of Apparatus Maintenance Facility, which included the renovation of 67,000 sf of existing buildings and the construction of 56,000 sf of new buildings. The team included:

With a goal of consolidating four public works facilities located on different sites throughout the City, the project called for several garages, maintenance shops, and employee areas. The new facility features a vehicle storage area and refuse vehicle storage area (both of which accommodate more than 24 vehicles), a central vehicle maintenance area providing vehicle lifts, tire changer, and other equipment to maintain a fleet, a Bureau of Apparatus Maintenance and Services area, a single manual bay wash, and a fuel station with a 6,000 gallon gasoline fuel tank, a 10,000 gallon diesel fuel tank, and four fuel dispensing stations.

The awards program recognizes outstanding building projects while increasing awareness in our local communities regarding the quantity and quality of work being produced by members of the ABC CT chapter.
