Farmington, Conn., November 22, 2022: Job site safety is always a challenge in the construction industry. Achieving industry recognition for achievements in this critical area of work is one way construction firms can demonstrate their safety commitment to trade workers, clients, and employees.
KBE Building Corporation has built a strong reputation for safety over the years, as evidenced by seven invitation-only OSHA Safety Training Partnerships as well as annual recognition by the national and local Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The 63-year-old national construction services firm is headquartered in Farmington, CT, with regional offices in Norwalk, CT; Laurel, MD to serve the MidAtlantic; and Scottsdale, AZ, serving clients in the Western US. An affiliate, KBE-NY, works with clients in the metropolitan New York area.
Several recent industry awards underscore KBE’s commitment to project safety.
These include the Diamond STEP Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), which was presented at the ABC’s annual Excellence in Construction awards night in October.
This is KBE’s first time being recognized with the Diamond level award – the highest level awarded. Past achievements include multiple Platinum and Gold awards over the last two decades.
The STEP (Safety Training Evaluation Process) program has evolved into a world-class safety management system that dramatically improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work. According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, STEP participants, regardless of company size or type of work, and can reduce recordable incidents up to 85%, making the best performing companies more than eight times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond, the highest, to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Participant.
KBE was also recognized by the ABC as “Safety Contractor of the Year” in the Large Contractor category as part of the Connecticut Chapter’s annual Best of the Best Safety awards. This recognition is based on KBE’s exceptional safety performance over the course of 250,000+ project hours. This is the fourth time that KBE has been recognized since 2016.
