FARMINGTON, Conn., and COLUMBIA, Md., Nov. 20, 2012 – KBE Building Corporation completed its fourth annual “Gift of Gobble” program, a staple in its award-winning community outreach initiative, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.
KBE employees and their families from the Connecticut office gathered on Saturday, November 17th, to assemble 168 boxes of food for Connecticut families in need. Each box included a turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, beans, potatoes, yams, rolls, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a roasting pan. Twenty additional turkeys were also donated.
The meals were delivered to several Connecticut community service agencies and food banks, including the Crystal Lake Food Pantry in Ellington, the Food Bank at Access Community Action Agency in Danielson, Farmington Community Services, the Catholic Charities of Hartford, the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, the Columbus House in New Haven, and the Fish Food Pantry in Torrington. Several turkeys were also delivered to the Hockanum Valley/Tri Town Pantry in Vernon.
Employees in the Maryland office assembled 25 complete Thanksgiving meals, as well, in conjunction with generous food donations from Harris Teeter. The meals were delivered to two Maryland charities, Sarah’s House and the Bea Gaddy Family Center.
50 Ways to Make a Difference, launched in 2009 to celebrate KBE’s 50th year in business, formalizes the construction company’s 50+ year legacy of charitable giving, and focuses on providing support for local children and seniors.
