Vice President | KBE Mid-Atlantic
Matt joined KBE in 2021 as Vice President of our Mid-Atlantic office. He previously worked in executive leadership and project management roles at several Mid-Atlantic and national construction firms. Matt majored in business and communications at University of Maryland-Baltimore.
How I ended up in construction:
I started in this business as a teenager as a summer laborer, then a carpenter’s assistant, and then I just moved up through the ranks. I actually majored in communications and business in college, thinking I’d pursue a different career, but the construction business just sucked me back in. It’s where I belong.
Best advice I’ve ever received…and given:
The best advice I ever got was from one of my first construction bosses, who said, “Whatever you do, do something. Don’t just do nothing.”
My kids hate it when I say this, but really, my best advice is to give everything your best effort, even though you might fail, because you learn more from your failures than your successes.
My most memorable project:
I don’t think I could pick one. I’ve been lucky enough to work some really fun jobs – and for me, fun means projects that are interesting with lots of hurdles to get over – and working with the project teams to make that happen.
What matters most to me about my work:
Really, it’s the teamwork aspect. That’s #1 for me.
