University of Connecticut, Garrigus Suites Residence Hall
Location: Storrs, CT
Client: University of Connecticut
Architect: Newman Architects (New Haven, CT)
Description: Design Builder and Constructor for this award-winning 138,000 sf, 450-bed residence hall. The building was constructed in just 12 months – a full semester ahead of schedule, even with an unusually severe winter. KBE recommended the use of a precast structure incorporating bearing walls, shear walls, and floor plank, which was fabricated in an environmentally controlled facility under stringent quality control.
“The characteristic that KBE portrayed through its personnel that struck me most was ‘integrity’…all players involved in this project were in fact part of a team looking to build the very best building possible with no excuses at the end.” – Scott Gallo, Project Manager, University of Connecticut
