GILBERT, Az., May 16, 2024 … Abbington of Gilbert, a new senior living community located at 3239 Mercy Rd., celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 16, 2024.
The Abbington at Gilbert is a two-story assisted living community developed by Utah-based Woodbury Corporation.
The new senior community offers 86 independent and assisted living units, including 18 dedicated to Memory Care. The new community is set on 3.25 acres at the corner of two major crossroads, right across from the beautiful Gilbert Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, an ideal location for accessibility and views.
KBE Building Corporation (Scottsdale, AZ) managed the construction of the new community, which was designed by FFKR Architects (Salt Lake City, UT).
“We are extremely pleased with the results of this collaboration with Woodbury Corporation and FFKR, and are thankful for all the hard work that went into the creation of this project,” says Mike Kolakowski, CEO of KBE Building Corporation.
The Abbington was built on post-tension slab on grade due to the expansive soil conditions typical of the region. In keeping with the neighborhood aesthetic, the building features an exterior finish of stucco with brick and stone veneer, and a mix of concrete tile and spray foam roof.
The many amenities include a landscaped walkway encircling the building, a concrete walking path in the courtyard, a putting green, shade pergolas, and fountain. Inside, the community offers an 1,800 sf dining room supported by a full commercial kitchen, laundry rooms, a salon, a wellness room, a private dining room for residents and their families, an ice cream parlor, a theatre, a library, a fitness room, and a game room for residents’ leisure.
“This was an exceptionally collaborative effort between our client, Woodbury Corporation; FFKR’s design team; and our construction team,” says Cort Darling, Regional Manager of Scottsdale-based KBE Building Corporation.
The Abbington senior living community is one of more than 50 communities that KBE has built across the Southwestern, Northeastern, and Mid-Atlantic US.
