Two Rebuilding Projects by KBE at Steelepoint Harbor in Bridgeport

KBE Building Corporation Kicks Off Bridgeport’s Steelpointe Harbor Development with Two Rebuilding Projects

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., Nov. 25, 2013 — KBE Building Corporation has begun the initial phases of work at Steelpointe Harbor, a 2.8 million square-foot, mixed-use, waterfront development in Fairfield County, Conn. The initial steps involve the relocation of two businesses, MOVE Yacht Club and Hillard Bloom Shellfish. KBE was selected to facilitate these building projects.

MOVE Yacht Club
MOVE Yacht Club was moved to a new, larger facility at 220 Waterview Avenue in Bridgeport on the west side of Bridgeport Harbor, just north of I-95. The new 2,503 sf building was completed ahead of schedule in September, at a cost of just $783,000. The building is set on timber piles and includes a banquet room, a bar/lounge area, member’s lounge, restrooms, and space for a future kitchen.

Established in 1972, MOVE, which stands for Men Of Vision and Excellence and is the only minority yacht club in the area, has about 25 members.

Hillard Bloom Shellfish

A five-month project started in late October, the Hillard Bloom Shellfish relocation is an approximately $2 million project. Hillard Bloom is a family-owned seafood wholesaler that cultivates and harvests clams and oysters, and has been a neighborhood fixture in Bridgeport Harbor since 1947. The relocation consists of a 2,120 sf wood structure that includes cold storage, a workshop, several offices, and a restroom.  The new location is at 210 Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport on the east side of the harbor and just south of I-95.

“KBE is delighted to create new, modern spaces for these organizations who have anchored the Bridgeport Harbor community for decades,” said KBE President and CEO Mike Kolakowski.
