Building a Brighter Future for Local Children
Renovations to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury not only brought smiles to children’s faces – they also brought the organization one step closer to achieving its vision:
Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
“We’re hoping that the renovations will motivate even more Waterbury kids to stay active and healthy – which is critical for their success,” said KBE principal owner and CEO Mike Kolakowski. “Our children are our future, and it’s such a great feeling to know that we’re making a difference in their lives.”
In addition to building for the benefit of local children, KBE also makes young people a major focus of its corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.
Established in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s new ownership, name change, and 50 years in business, 50 Ways has helped KBE associates donate more than $1.5 million and 6,000 volunteer hours to charitable causes in Connecticut and Maryland.
As part of its 2014 charitable efforts, KBE awarded $17,000 in scholarships to 34 Connecticut technical high school students pursuing higher education in construction or related fields.
